An appreciation of gardens goes beyond dirt under the fingernails or blossoms filled with exotic spices. It survives 60km winds and pelting rains in the summer, only to mention the depredation of winter. Gardens are enchanting and charming. Stashed in a secret spot (in a pot), even the deer cannot maneuver, this lily thrives. A year wait to see 7 buds and now, 2 in bloom. These days are cool and wet, so to savour this magnificent piece of art, it is now indoors. The house is filled with an inimitable scent. A scent so delicious, so beautiful, so dazzling, it is quintessence for the soul . Every year I wait for this lily. The allure is so enticing. Honestly, I'm not much of a gardener, dirt under my fingernails is not my idea of amusement. The compensation of beauty is my reward. That and a nice glass of wine at the end of a day.
