2nd Annual Patio Party

Friends, BBQ, potato salad,
lemonade, watermelon and a warm summer breeze. That is a what I conjure up thinking about patio parties. In reality, that is not what happens in Gibsons at Deer Fern B&B. A doe, two fawns and two pots of hostas seem to be all that is needed. As I am serving breakfast to guests in their suite, I look outside, through the front door and on the deck, not one metre way, our sweet little fawns, or as we call them 'the twins'. They have just polished off the remaining potted plants, leaving one leaf. The plants can be replaced and will grow back next year. The fawns will be little only once. It's hard work being an infant creature. Just mosey off the deck and into the woods, find a safe spot to have a nap. What you do not see in this picture is the the other two mule deer sleeping, my husband catching a wink in the swing, all comfortably close to each other. What the camera cannot capture is the knowlege that my outdoor family is safe in this moment of time, full bellies and all. Could you imagine a better patio party than this? Memories are made. Going back to my archive post, October 2007, this would be the first annual patio party.
